Biography

 

Dustin Tomsen is a 19 year old guitarist, singer, songwriter, composer and producer from Oberammergau in the alps. 
With more than 100 YouTube videos, as well as several TV and radio appearances, he has made a name for himself as a musician worldwide.

Dustin grew up in a musical family. 
His father Thomas Tomsen is a professional musician who has worked with some big names in rock history. 
Dustin's mother was a professional drummer, so from a young age Dustin wanted to make music, like his parents and learn to play an instrument himself. 
At the age of four, his parents discovered that Dustin had perfect pitch and could even recognize the key of a drill or a refrigerator.
At the age of 2 Dustin first played drums and at the age of 4 he started playing keyboards. 
Dustin started playing bass at age 7 and singing at age 9.
            
When Dustin was 5 years old he wanted to play guitar like his father who then taught him for 6 years but he also taught himself a lot.

Dustin's early influences were KISS, Ace Frehley, Vinnie Moore, Joe Satriani, Gary Moore, AC/DC, ZZ Top, Rory Gallagher, Jimi Hendrix and many others...
At the age of 9, Dustin covered Gary Moore's instrumental hit "The Loner" which had almost 3.5 million views on YouTube.

In 2016, German television discovered Dustin's YouTube profile and invited him to appear in the second season of Superkids, where he reached the finale. 
Since then he has appeared on several television shows and his music has been played on many radio stations.

Since making music Dustin has personally interacted or performed with many people over the years such as Vinnie Moore (UFO; Alice Cooper), Ehrlich Brothers (magician), Bruce Kulick (KISS), Felix Neureuther (skier), Wayne Carpendale (actor), Doug Pinnick (King’s X), Michelle Hunziker (TV host), Michael Angelo Batio, Martin Breitkopf (ARD/BR), Henning Wehland (H-Blockx), Jason Becker (David Lee Roth), Sascha Quade (TV host), Lukas Rieger (singer), Chris Tall (comedian), Lola Weippert (TV host), Anna Steinhardt (actress), Henning Rümenapp (Guano Apes), Marc Vanderberg, Andrew "The Bullet" Lauer, and many others.

Dustin has been an official endorser of Ibanez Guitars since 2016 and an endorser of Hughes & Kettner Amps since 2019.

On November 18th, 2019, Dustin released his first guitar instrumental album "Sound Of Broken Lights" which he recorded in his own studio at the age of 14.

In 2020 Dustin took lessons from legendary jazz/fusion guitarist Stanley Jordan.
Jordan was also in the 1987 Hollywood movie "Blind Date" where he played himself alongside Bruce Willis and Kim Basinger.

In 2021, Dustin performed on the German version of "Got Talent" (Das Supertalent) and got four yeses from the jury.

On October 8th, 2021, Dustin released his second album "Milk & Beer", which stayed in the top 100 of Amazon.com's Best Seller Download Charts for 8 weeks (to #11)...

On September 17th, 2022, Dustin Tomsen performed at the "MusiConnect 2022" event along with other artists such as Yasi Hofer (Helene Fischer; No Angels) and Thomas Blug ("Fender Strat King of Europe").
He did a workshop and a live performance there.

On October 29th, 2022, Dustin released his third album "Noises From The Ammertal", which he recorded, mixed and mastered in his own studio.

In the November 2022 issue of the German magazine "guitar" is an one-page interview with Dustin Tomsen.

On January 6th, 2023, Dustin has visited the Hughes & Kettner headquarters and recorded videos of his songs "Mystery Of The Ugly Tree", "The Drunk Bee" (from Dustin's third album "Noises From The Ammertal") and more, as well as a promotional video for the Hughes & Kettner StompMan, AmpMan Classic and AmpMan Modern (on the channels and pages of Musikhaus Kirstein)

On January 20th, 2024, Dustin was invited to the Meinl Company in Gutenstetten, Germany to take part on the "Meinl Kick Off Day 2024". 
He tested the new Ibanez guitar models of 2024 together with Martin Miller, Justin Hombach, Ralf Sommerfeld and many other well-known Ibanez artists.
